Terms of service.
1. Program Overview:
1.1 The Au Pair Program (hereinafter referred to as "the Program") facilitates cultural exchange by matching host families with international au pairs.
1.2 The Program is administered by Italy Abroad (hereinafter referred to as "the Organization").
2. Eligibility:
2.1 Au pairs must be between the ages of 18 and 30 (inclusive) at the time of application.
2.2 Au pairs must possess a valid passport and obtain any necessary visas or permits required for travel and residence in the host country.
2.3 Au pairs must demonstrate proficiency in the English language, as most families are interested in developing competency in the English language.
3. Application Process:
3.1 Au pairs must complete the application form provided by the Organization, including personal information, references, and preferences.
3.2 The Organization reserves the right to conduct interviews and background checks on all applicants.
3.3 Host families may also be required to complete an application and undergo a screening process.
4. Placement:
4.1 The Organization will endeavor to match au pairs with suitable host families based on preferences, skills, and compatibility.
4.2 Final placement decisions are at the discretion of the Organization and are subject to availability.
4.3 Au pairs and host families will receive detailed profiles of each other prior to confirming the placement.
5. Responsibilities:
5.1 Au pairs agree to provide childcare and light household duties for the host family in exchange for room, board, and a stipend. These roles may vary depending on family and a clear outline will be provided prior to placement.
5.2 Au pairs must abide by the laws and regulations of the host country, including those relating to visas, work permits, and taxes.
5.3 Host families agree to provide a safe and welcoming environment for the au pair, including suitable accommodation and meals.
5.4 Host families are responsible for any additional costs incurred by the au pair during their stay, such as language classes or transportation.
6. Duration and Termination:
6.1 The typical duration of the Program is 3 to 12 months, with the option to extend by mutual agreement between the au pair and host family.
6.2 Either party may terminate the placement with two weeks' notice, or immediately in cases of serious misconduct or breach of contract.
6.3 The Organization may terminate the placement if either party fails to fulfill their obligations under these terms and conditions.
7. Insurance and Liability:
7.1 Au pairs are responsible for obtaining adequate travel and health insurance for the duration of their stay.
7.2 The Organization and host families are not liable for any injury, illness, or loss suffered by the au pair during their participation in the Program.
8. Dispute Resolution*
8.1 Any disputes arising under these terms and conditions shall be resolved amicably through negotiation and mediation.
8.2 In the event that mediation is unsuccessful, the parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the United States of America.
9. Amendments and Updates:
9.1 The Organization reserves the right to amend or update these terms and conditions at any time, with notice provided to all participants.
9.2 Amendments to the terms and conditions will not apply retroactively and will only affect placements made after the effective date of the changes.
By participating in the Program, both au pairs and host families agree to abide by these terms and conditions and any additional policies or guidelines provided by the Organization.
